Products used and purpose.
WRINKLE SMOOTHING
Botulinum toxin, commonly referred to by the name of its leading brand Botox®, is a neurotoxin used in wrinkle smoothing injections that works on wrinkles as it temporarily blocks signals from the nerves to the specific muscles in which it’s injected, making it harder for those facial muscles to contract, thus creating a smoother appearance.
This is an extremely popular non-surgical treatment for men and women as it has a multitude of rejuvenating and restorative uses. It can help lift the eyebrows to relieve sagging over the eyes, it can smooth lines and wrinkles on the forehead, the frown line, crows feet, and laughter lines. Botox can also help reduce a ‘gummy smile’, smooth a dimply chin and is used as an non-surgical alternative to a neck lift, referred to as a ‘nefertiti lift’, where the platysmal bands are injected to create a more taught and defined look.
Results can last anything from 3 months to over a year, depending on where the product was injected, how much product was used and of course on other factors such as the client’s lifestyle and genetic make up.
DERMAL FILLERS
Dermal fillers are soft tissue gels that come in different consistencies and are injected at specific depths depending on the desired result, which could be to hydrate, fill creases and wrinkles, or to uplift deep structures such as the cheeks.
Our faces lose subcutaneous fat as we age and this volume loss can create a sagging appearance, especially in the cheeks, around the mouth and the jawline. Other factors of fat loss in the face can be down to sun exposure, hereditary factors and lifestyle. Therefore, Dermal fillers can be very helpful in patients with early to moderate signs of ageing who would like to restore lost volume or create a more defined look. Gone are the days of the ‘scary’ fillers that you may have seen in the 90’s; Karolina uses purely hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers that mimic our own HA to provide hydration, which can also be reversed if necessary.
Dermal fillers can:
▪ Increase volume and hydration of the lips
▪ Soften deeper facial wrinkles
▪ Replace lost volume in cheeks
▪ Be used as a non-surgical nose job alternative
▪ Reduce the shadow of the lower lids
▪ Relive sagging jowls
▪ Improve and soften Marionette lines
▪ Create more definition and structure
▪ Decrease the appearance of smoker’s lines
▪ Reconstruct and contour deformities
▪ Improve the appearance of some indented scars
Dermal filler results will typically last longer than wrinkle smoothing injections. Karolina is an expert at using the cannula needle to evenly and expertly deliver a precise quantity of product to the desired area, for example on the cheek line.
SKIN BOOSTERS (PROFHILO)
Profhilo® is perhaps one of the most exciting injectable treatments to enter the market in recent years as it contains an ultra-pure concentration of hyaluronic acid that stimulates four different types of collagen and elastin as it releases and gets to work in the skin. Profhilo attracts water in the deeper layers of the skin thereby creating more hydration but also works to tighten and lift areas in a very natural way and Karolina has seen some fantastic results.
The gel-like substance can be injected in the face, neck and decolletage and, more recently, it is being tested on hands, arms and other areas where skin laxity could be improved.
Because of it’s slightly thicker consistency (compared to Botox or dermal filler), you may notice very small bumps on the treated areas that the body will absorb over the course of a day. The results are worth it though and can also help to treat pigmentation. Multiple treatments spaced over time may be recommended to improve the quality of your skin.
